Louet Spinning Wheels
Since 1974 the Louet team in Holland has been designing and manufacturing well-balanced spinning wheels which have been engineered to be easy-to-use, durable, low-maintenance, aesthetically pleasing, and productive. These wheels treadle lightly, are easy to learn on, and can be modified to satisfy the most expert spinner. The standard wheels have been designed to be suitable for spinning fine to medium yarns, and bobbins and flyers are available for spinning medium to heavy yarns.
Technically, all models are the same. Each wheel has a single belt bobbin drive with an adjustable flyer brake to regulate the tension. The flexible belts are made of polyurethane and never have to be adjusted. All bobbins have a sheave with three settings on one side that can be used to obtain three spinning speeds. The ratios are: 1:5.5 for slow spinning and heavy yarn, 1:7.5 for medium yarn and 1:10.5 for fast spinning & fine yarn. The fly wheels of all models are 20" in diameter; orifice size is 1/2". Maintenance-free ball bearings are used in the main hub and at the footman connection, which ensure that the wheel turns quietly and freely.
The spinning wheels are disassembled so they can be packed flat and shipped economically. Tools and instructions are included for the simple assembly which consists of tightening 2 nuts.
